Greek Conference in Review

Monday Mar 1st

Hey everybody,

Thank you all so much  for praying for Greek Conference last weekend.  The conference was the largest ever in Charlotte with nearly 270 students from 34 different campuses across the country gathering to worship and seek the Lord together for one weekend.  Of those 270 students:

-43 made first-time or re-commitments to follow Jesus as Lord & Savior!

-116 committed to being an ambassador for Christ in their chapter, on campus and in the workplace!

-49 committed to starting or leading ministry in their chapter!
-73 committed to keep seeking and pursuing answers to their spiritual questions!

If you are on Facebook, check out this link of a highlight video from the weekend: http://www.facebook.com/video/video.php?v=999956127760&ref=mf

Though we did not reach our goal of bringing 32 students from Clemson, we did bring 16 and 4 alumni volunteers who came to give back by leading table groups for the weekend.  Of the 16 Clemson students who came, nearly all committed to returning to campus to be ambassadors for Christ in their fraternities and sororities and/or starting/continuing to lead ministry!  We also had an awesome time of sharing, praying and dreaming together about all the great things God has in store for Clemson Greek IV in the future.  Greater things are yet to come!

I definitely felt your prayers as I led the Influence concentration for juniors and seniors.  Overall, we received great feedback from students who were challenged and encouraged to go back to campus and into the work force with a commitment to build God's kingdom.  Here is one quote from a Clemson senior after the weekend:

"I'm SO GLAD that I went to Greek Conference.  Although I've grown in my faith a good bit recently, this past weekend helped even more with encouragement to keep growing and spreading God's message to everyone around me."

On a personal note, Christin and I received news late Saturday night at Greek Conference that my grandmother (mom's mom) passed away after being in the hospital for the past two weeks.  So we spent Sunday-Wednesday in NC to be with family and plan and attend the funeral.  Though the past few days have been emotional and exhausting, I must say it's been a blessing to truly experience the Lord's comfort as we mourn together as a family and celebrate that Maw Maw is now with Jesus.  Even so, I would certainly appreciate your prayers for continued comfort and peace for my mom and family as we continue to grieve the loss.

I am flying out Sunday to Arizona to be with 60+ of my colleagues for Greek IV's annual National Staff Meetings, so I'd also welcome your prayers for some rest and rejuvenation there, and for Christin and I while we are apart.  On Wednesday morning, I will also be leading a Bible study for our staff team on 2 Timothy 2:14-26, so would you pray that the Lord would use me and this time together to speak Truth and facilitate open prayer and discussion together?

As always, thank you all so much for who you are and for your partnership in ministry.  Even in the midst of mourning and the busy-ness of life, I rejoice in knowing that the Lord is still at work in saving and changing students lives, renewing fraternities and sororities and developing world-changers.  And because of that and your continued prayers and support, I too continue to grow in awe and amazement of our Lord and how truly great He is...all the time!

Thanks again, and I look forward to updating you again soon,

Dusty
