Sierra Leone Update
Monday Mar 8th
Hi Everyone,
I do thank you for all your prayers and concern for Safie who is presently at Presbyterian Hospital in Charlotte. We also thank you for your financial support to the Sierra Leone Mission even at this difficult time. We do pray that God Almighty will continue to bless us and keep us steadfast in the faith. May we continue to stay obedient to do his work here on this earth, remembering that the Glory is all His.
The Moravian Secondary School in Luawa Yiehun, Sierra Leone is doing very well. We presently have some 100 students and seven teachers with Jack and Robert as our foundation teachers. We are presently putting together a student/teacher hand book that will include the pictures of all the students and teachers, code of ethics, rules and regulations, history of the school and a summary of the Moravian history, etc. The building of the school is still going on. We plan to add three more class rooms to the first building before the end of the year to be ready for the next school. Many pupils from the primary schools in the vicinity are planning to come to the Moravian Secondary School so we have to provide space and seats for them. Our school badge is the Moravian seal inbeded into the Sierra Leone flag. You need to see this.
The church is going strong. There was a period of less attendance when the men and women had their society celebration. I cannot explain this. We are preaching to them to be more giving than receiving so that they will be self sustainable.
The roads are getting better. It is now dry season and lots of dust. The temperature as always is in the low 70s and the high 90s. It is time for clearing/brushing the fields for planting of rice and other things. We had a yard sale last week and during that time we demostrated how to use the tillers that were donated to us. We have to do the yard sale to raise some money to buy gas for the Freetown trip.
Please send us some powdered detergents, cashew nuts, mechanic tool from sears, light bulb for our sanyo projecture that Billy sent, printer cartridge refill ink, chalks, pens and pencils.
Once more thanks a bunch for all you do: prayers for Safie, myself, Jack, Robert and the mission. We will be going back to the village Thursday and come back in April to pick up our brothers and sister from the Carolinas. Please sendt the requested items by Billy, Sam, or Donna.
God is good all the time!
Mohamed.
