In Mark 12: 28-34 Jesus is asked which of the commandments is the most important. First He answers, “Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind and with all your strength.” Then He responds, “Love your neighbor as yourself.” In a parable in Matthew 25, He says that supplying the needs of others is the same as supplying His needs. If we do not serve others we do not serve Christ. We read further what awaits those who do not serve Christ. These two passages capture the goals of the volunteer program.
