The Rev. William C. Sibert, Jr.

Executive Director

Will attended St. James School in Maryland and graduated from Union College in 1975. In 1983, Will felt a call to ministry and attended Moravian Theological Seminary, Bethlehem, Pennsylvania, where he graduated in 1986. Upon graduation, Will entered the mission field through the Board of World Mission to serve the Honduras Moravian Church, where he spent seven years teaching in and directing their Bible Institute. Starting in 1997, Will worked three years for the Board of World Mission, Moravian Theological Seminary, and Worldwide Ministries Division of the Presbyterian Church, USA. His work involved developing telecommunication solutions, distance education support, and information sharing among Latin American theological institutions. Will also earned a MS in Information Science from the University of North Carolina in Chapel Hill during this time.

In 2000, Will began new mission service with BEE World, an organization who has worked in closed countries for the past 25 years providing leadership training to underground churches. Through BEE, Will began working in the Middle East where his responsibilities included teaching in Vietnam, China, and Nepal, and helping to develop a new strategy that takes advantage of the rapid worldwide expansion of the internet called the Internet Biblical Seminary. The BWM has been supporting Will in his work with BEE World. In 2003, Will accepted an appointment from the BWM to serve as the Interim Director of Worldwide Witness. His work in this position has been to develop presentations and consolidate feedback for the board’s new visioning process.

Will became Executive Director of the Board of World Mission on April 1, 2004.

Born in Fort Bragg, North Carolina, Will currently resides in North Carolina. Will and his wife, Kim, and their two daughters, Maria and Anna, will relocate to Bethlehem, Pennsylvania.

The Office of the Executive Director oversees staff, missionaries, and ministries of the Board of World Mission. In addition, the Executive Director has specific responsibilities for the partnerships with affiliated Moravian Churches abroad.

The Rev. Samuel Gray

Director of Intercultural Ministries

Sam was born in Winston-Salem, NC. His intercultural experience began at an early age when his parents, the Rev. and Mrs. Joe Gray, took him to Nicaragua when he was 5 weeks old. He lived in Nicaragua for 11 years; his mother taught her five children all through elementary school. He gave his life to Christ at an old fashioned Revival Service at Grace Moravian Church in Mt. Airy, NC in 1968.

After graduating from The Stony Brook School (Long Island NY) in 1972, Sam attended Moravian College from 1972 – 1976, majoring in Religion. He was active in Choir, Band, the Campus Christian Association and a jazz band, “The Brethren”.

He worked for the Moravian Church in Honduras for one year, organizing a student group in Tegucigalpa.

In 1978 he returned to Moravian College for further study in Elementary Education and then attended Fuller Seminary (Pasadena, CA) in the summer of 1979.

In January 1980 he began full time service for the Board of World Mission in Honduras as a high school teacher, director of the Bible Institute, Christian Education Director, Student Group organizer and founding pastor of Israel Moravian Church in Tegucigalpa, serving there for 13 1/2 years. During that time, he married Lorena Alvarez, a Registered Nurse, from Cocobila, Honduras.

Sam returned to Moravian Theological Seminary in 1993, graduating in 1996 with an M.Div. and was ordained as a deacon in May, 1996. He served as Assistant Pastor of Emmaus Moravian Church and Director of Youth Ministries for the Eastern District of the Northern Province.

Sam and Lorena have three sons: Luke, Tim and Christian David, as well as one grand-daughter, Rachel.

Mark Ebert

Director of Volunteer Ministries

Mark worked for the Board in 2004 and 2005 part time coordinating and preparing teams to serve in the mission field. Mark, his wife Theresa, and their two boys are members of Ardmore Moravian Church in Winston-Salem, NC. Mark also serves on the congregation’s Board of Elders.


Lisa Mixon

Administrative Assistant

Lisa joins our Bethlehem Office after over twenty years working in the secular world this January. A Sunday School teacher at East Hills Moravian Church, Lisa is married to Joe Mixon and has two daughters, Ariel and Chelsea.

Sheila Beaman

Administrative Assistant

Working in the Winston-Salem office, Sheila Beaman has served the Board of World Mission for 10 years. An active member of Macedonia Moravian Church, Mrs. Beaman is married to Charles Beaman and is the mother of two children.

Judy Harke

HIV/AIDS Coordinator

Judy is a nurse practitioner in Geriatrics and also is a part-time lay pastor at Christian Faith Moravian Church in DeForest, WI. Her interest in missions stems from serving 5 _ years with her family in Nicaragua in the 1970Ős. She recently completed 12 years on the BWM as a Western District representative.
